This study was conducted from December 2006 to April 2007 at Mwere and Chamwino primary schools, Kigurunyembe and Morogoro secondary schools, Morogoro Teachers' College and Sokoine University of Agriculture in Morogoro Municipality. The aim of the study was to assess level of HIV / AIDS sensitisation between boys and girls in primary schools, secondary and post-secondary schools as well as between the institutions. The specific objectives of the study were: to compare the degree of sensitization on HIV/AIDS between boys and girls among primary schools, secondary and post -secondary schools, to identify the means/sources of sensitization, and to determine how much information on HIV / AIDS the primary school pupils, secondary and post secondary students know. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire. A total of 120 respondents from two primary schools, two secondary schools and two post secondary schools involved in this study were sampled randomly. From each selected institution, 20 pupils/students of which 10 from each sex were randomly selected and subjected to questionnaire. The collected data was coded and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) computer software for windows. Descriptive statistics such as percentages, means and frequencies were determined. The results show that the means of HIV / AIDS sensitization used to respondents was through radios, TV s, booklets/newspapers, health workers, teachers and parents. The study found out that the level of sensitization was almost equal between boys and girl in all institutions studied. However, the study has revealed that there were no stipulated strategies in these schools to help them cope effectively with the HIV / AIDS pandemic.
