‘Sinmyung' is core value in Hahwoe mask dance drama. The purpose of this study is to investigate the principle of sinmyung which is adaptable to modern drama.
The 1st principle of getting ‘sinmyung' from ‘Hahwoe mask dance drama' is people's subjective spirit. They want to discuss dissatisfaction and present their desire in their subjective view of world. This sprit made the reversed world in compensation for their pressed life. Even though critical discussion, ‘Hahwoe mask dance drama’ made integrated community in class society which is different from western realism drama.
The second principle is virtual world of people's wish. The people make the virtual world at play ground. So they can experienced liberation and can get the power of planning the their life. They are joining virtual mask dance drama. In that process they are make the sinmyung and divided it together.
The third principle of sinmyung is to use madang as drama stage. Madang is very useful space for easy communication and impacting other participants. Because madang is rounded space by participant in human scale.
The diameter of circle stage is abounded very near which is face look readable distance. In circle stage, the stage background constituting of participant is dynamic and ever changing. That is big different from fixed modern stage.
Madang is also very useful communication tool by spectator's active adjoin such as looks, applaud, comment.
The fourth core value of mask dance drama is people's subjective, organized conscious process. They break up strict oder of class society and proceed to chaos order in conscious process. Participant experience the sinmyung in chaos order and is full of energy which is essential power for new order.
By adapting tool of mask dance, they are projecting their subjective conscious, proceeding objective testify process and finally expand and reproduce their view of world.
Subjective view of world, tangible rounded stage and procedure to chaos order in Hahwoe mask dance is also valuable and essential item in constituting educational drama.
We need to change the way we understand in introducing these items in educational drama.
