The world of novel of Han, Seung-Won who appeared on the platform in 1960 with「A Wooden ship」was continued into 1970s without big changes. At this time, so called, the world of literature of Han, Seung-Won during this period, which is summarized as the indigenous nature, was formed through duplicate impacts of his teacher, Kim, Dong-Ri and ‘consciousness of the history’ of the generation sensibility provided by April 19 students movement.
「An abolished village」is a representative work of Han, Seung-Won which had combined a folklore story of Byeongangsoi and a civil hero. However, this work had weakened the meaning of folklore hero relatively by too much modeling the hero of Byeongangsoi and the heroin of Ongnyeo in too much focusing on fun and interests. As ideological topography of the modern history is deeply involved in here, the HAN, which was felt as superpower and abstract in the previous generation, is now ‘delineated’ as mores pecific living sense.
This characteristic was already commenced in a serial work of HAN/heartburning and this can be said as accomplishment of Han, Seung-Won who had continued the works of Kim, Dong-Ri. However, in his literature as an author of new generation, it is difficult to avoid criticism that he is complacent with traditional aesthetic emotion so easily because there are no fierce agony about ‘tradition’ itself which is the upper item of indigenous nature.
