Korea was ruled by a one-language, one-culture, one-race mentality, and this has been a stumbling block for Korea to advance into a multicultural society. In this paper, the author reveals that this one-race mentality is actually a passive yet an exclusive self-identity created by the Korean nation to protect itself from foreign powers in the past. Also, the author criticizes this exclusive self-identity as a hindrance for Korea in entering an age of a multicultural society. With this counterproposal, the author presents the model of Jesus. Jesus is the immigrant who came into this land from the kingdom of God. As an immigrant Jesus was a marginalized person, while, at the same time, he lived a life for marginal people. Jesus as the marginal person means that all the people on this earth are immigrants and marginal people. Through this point, this paper will help stimulate the thinking of new paradigms by encouraging holding different perspectives concerning the identity of the Korean, the identity of the immigrants, as well as Christian missions, education, and ministry in a multicultural society.
