So many scholars have analyzed Russian society and culture in the terms of' continuity' and 'change' and also' chaos' and 'order.' This approaches. of course. still helpful for explaining the characteristics of changes in the Russian society and culture. In spite of that those approaches have shortcomings that it can't tell us what is new and changed before and after the end of Soviet system in Russian society and culture. And more that kind of approach can not explain how tremendous the impact of nee-liberalistic globalization and trans national great capitalists on Russian culture and cultural industry.
Recent Russian socio . cultural crisis, it is legitimacy crisis. identity crisis and social crisis, result from the internal paradox and shortcomings in Soviet system. The revolutionary cultural policy pursued by Gorvachev started for the more humanistic socialism. but eventuated in the fall of Soviet socialism. Since the appearance of Gorvachev in Russia organized "civil groups" and advocated "freedom of press" and especially had got the dynamics in cultural area.
Since 1990s Russian economic crisis and financial short undermined Russian mass culture and cultural industry. Most of mass media are controlled by political leaders and a few monopoly capitalists closely connected with Boris Yeltsin group. Or as in the privatization of Svayzinvest. Russia's potentially lucrative national telecommunications company foreign capitalists like the financier George Sores took the ownership.
The program and contents of 1V and radio are very familar with that of west europe and USA. Most cinema of Russian cinema theater are from Hollywood and the most popular tapes in Russian video market are from USA. It means the cultural needs and taste of Russian are changing pro American style. And another hand. it is because the quality and quantity of Russian cinema is decreasing result from financial problems. And more the video market is under control of Mafia and the illegal copy of films and pornography by Mafia occur social problems.
Generally speaking, Russian mass culture and cultural industries are participating in globalization. 'Maybe it is natural and inevitable. It is important thing is that so called 'cultural globalization' in the present Russian economic and social conditions means Russia society possibly will be cultural colony in the near future.
