The purpose of this study was to determine the competitive state anxiety of the elementary school archery players before a competition. Its subjects were 122 players (62 male and 60 female) who attended the National Elementary School Archery Competition for the Gyeongbuk Provincial Governor’s Flag. Based on the results of the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-Ⅱ (CSAI-Ⅱ) that was conducted in this study, the subjects’ somatic state anxiety, cognitive state anxiety, and state self-confidence were analyzed as subfactors of the competitive state anxiety of elementary school archery players.
The following results were obtained:
First, regarding the subjects’ somatic state anxiety, a statistically significant difference was shown in the results of the t-test that was conducted on the subjects’ gender and winning experience. With reference to gender, the female players showed a higher somatic state anxiety level compared to the male players, and as regards the subjects’ winning experience, the non-wining players showed a higher anxiety level compared to the winning players.
Second, for the cognitive state anxiety of the subjects, the results of the t-test that was conducted showed a statistically significant difference according to gender. Here, the female subjects showed a higher cognitive state anxiety level compared to the male subjects.
Third, considering the subjects’ state self-confidence, the results of the t-test that was conducted showed a statistically significant difference according to gender. Here, the male subjects showed a higher state self-confidence compared to the female subjects.
