This paper reviews the study trend of China on Old-Chosun and aims to identify the logic behind the view that "Old-Chosun is also pan of China's history." The paper also reviews and criticizes the problems and the limits of that logic. To do so, the study focused on the Chinese papers whose topics and keywords are directly related to Old-Chosun such as Chosun(朝鮮), Gija(箕子), Dangoon(檀君), Ye(濊), Mek(貊), Yemek(濊貊), and Wiman(衛滿) and reviewed the study trend of the Chinese academic society on the history of Old-Chosun.
In this process, this paper found that among the reasons why the Chinese scholars view Old-Chosun part of their own history, there is first, their wayward interpretation of the historical data, second, the self-centered Sinocentrism, third, the short-sighted and simple view that since the ancient culture of the Korean peninsula is similar to that of China, Old-Chosun and Samhan(三韓, adjoining three forces in central-southern of the Korean Peninsular)'s history belongs to China.
This paper pointed out d1e problems in five controversial points regarding this opinion of the Chinese academic society. To establish the right ideology of Old-Chosun, it is necessary to go beyond the self-centered cultural nationalism and have an integrated review on the detailed interpretation of historical data and the archeological culture.
