The purpose of this study is to understand the concept of slow movement leading to slow tourism at once which can be applied to regional tourism development in rural and urban areas. It is also significant for the central and regional government to pay attention and concern on new tourism issues as tourists want to experience new and different things in their chosen tourism destinations. Slow movement started from the campaign of against fast food and this moved and expanded to slow city, slow movement, slow tourism, and slow life. However, in Korea, the concept of slow movement is very new. Since 4 Korean cities become members of "cittaslow", the government starts to show an interest on the topic by providing subsidies to those cities and supporting to attract private investments into the regions. The development of local communities is based, among other things, on their ability to share and acknowledge specific qualities, to create an identity of their own that is visible outside and profoundly felt inside. Slow Food, which has set out to build its success and international growth on the quality of life, and the Cities which have distinguished themselves in this activity have decided to establish an international network of Slow Cities. Slow cities actively involved in promoting tourism in their regions which can be beneficial to both residents and tourists to increase profits and make regional economic active. Therefore, this study will provide the way to develop regional tourism into new direction and also suggest necessary policies and regulations for further development in metropolitan cities such as Busan.
