This thesis is a study on the meaning of Wang Yang-ming's view of man in the 21th century. The 21th century is called an information-oriented society based multi-media and superhigh-speed communication networks. The rapid progress of information and communication instruments results in the convenience of human life. But modern egoistic and hedonistic tendency to exploit a great store of information and knowledge for self-interest and self-pleasure leads to loss of self-identity and aggravates social conflict and disharmony.
Wang Yang-ruing describes human ontological identity and prescribes human normative obligation. I believe that Yang-ming's view of man signifies substantial view of human identity and methodological view of restoring human identity. Yang-ruing's view of man suggests the standards of individual and social life.
First, Wang Yang-ming(l472-1528) suggests that human beings don't live without values and morals. Furthermore he suggests that they are creative subjects of realization of values and morals.
Secondly, he suggests that human beings are original subjects of a unity of knowing and acting. Separation of knowing and acting originates in selfish desires and external temptations.
Thirdly, he suggests that each man originally is one body with myriad things. I and others have similarities physically and understandability psychologically.
Fourthly, he suggests that human beings are born with each talent of nature, The labor as a realization of talent is a way of giving life to others.
According to Wang Yang-ruing, true self doesn't depend on external things or disturb by internal selfish desires, but realizes and extends life-principles of nature in mind. Therefore he always reflect himself and examine his conscience.
