In the Edo period, literary activities became prosperous based on an abundant economic power in the Kaga district. At the same time, Haikai was also prosperous in the areas centred around Kanazawa.
Unfortunately, we can hardly find the study about Haikai in Kaga district at present.
Accordingly, I investigated on Haikai of Kaga district in the Danrin period in this thesis. The processes were done by collecting the anthologies of the Kaga"s poets in the Danrin period and analysing their poems.
In the thesis, I tried to grapple with the following factors;
The situation and development of Kaga"s Haikai in the Danrin
The interchange relationship between the poets, Haikaishi in Kaga and leaders of the groups Haikai in Osaka and Edo.
This thesis examines the aspects and progress of Kaga haikai in Danrin period and its association with other districts and Haidans. In other words, I expounded on the process of how Danrin haikai which became popular around Osaka and Edo area at the time entered the Kaga haikai, and the process of how Kaga haijin elborates it.
In addition, attention has been paid to the haijin"s achievement up until the publication of Kaga haisho in Danrin style.
The first section examines the process of publishing Kaga haijin"s works in the period of Enpo and Tenna.
The second section focuses on how Danrin haikai which became popular between Osaka and Edo haidans in the early Edo period, comes to influence the Kaga haidan.
The Third section examines the process of how the Kaga haidan adopts Danrin style, and analyzes their works from Enpo 5 to Enpo 8.
The fourth section considers the influences of Jisen and Tsunenori who were the masters of Danrin haikai in Kyoto on the Kaga haijins, and the anthologies produced by the Kaga haijins after they receive these influences in Enpo 9 to Tenna 3.
Accordingly, it was made possible to unveil the profiles of Kaga haijins who have remained under a veil. Moreover, in the course of revaluation of the significance of "Kikuzakechukeku" and "Yukinoshitakusakasen''in the context of the haikai history, it helped upgrade our appreciation of "Kikuzakechukeku" and "Yukinoshitakusakasen".
