In this paper I want to study a new-style story 'Eun-se-gye'(銀世界) by focusing on the textual criticism. During that time a study on Eun-se-gye has been based on the printed matter Which 'Dongmoonsa'(同文社) published in 1908 november. But the former text of Eun-se-gye was transcribed by 'ShinTaekyoung'(申澤永), the president of 'Pyounggang'(平康), in 1908 June. This transcription, which has been preserved in The Academy of Korean Studies, plays an important part in the Textual criticism of Eunsegye. The point of this study is as follows.
The first, Eunsegye in the form of a new-style story had been ahead of that in the form of a korean classical opera. It may be true that Eunsegye in the form of a new-style story had been published serially in a newspaper. And then this serial story had been printed in book form, finally had been presented at the 'WonGaksa'(圓覺社). The second, this transcription is better than the printed matter of Dongmoonsa in a modifier or a vocabulary. But the printed matter has importance to a study on the manner of narration in korean modem novel, that is to say the reversing arrangement of a narrative time. The decisive story in the printed matter is developed not in order but in reverse order, that is to say from present to past. In conclusion, when we want to study a new-style story, it is necessary to make use of not only a printed matter but also a transcription. Because the writing route of a new-style story is full of obscurities.
