This paper is concerned with the diversity of women's responses to social exclusion arising from the difficulties in attaching to both work and family at the same time. We intend to show the importance of recognizing and respecting their rights and needs to develop the methods for coping with social exclusion according to their wishes and abilities. Our discussion is based on data collected both from literature review and from a study concerning how Chinese managerial women in Guangzhou attempted to develop their career and play an active role in taking care of their family. At the end of the paper, it is argued that a clear picture about the similarity and diversity of women's responses to social exclusion is essential to making an accurate assessment of the effectiveness of different solutions to this problem.
