The Rooibos tea mote caffeine without being contained entirely polyphenol inorganic compounds such as green tea be included, and refer to SOD similarity material that have activity that is various physiological thing and pharmacy enemy that there is aging control effect. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of Rooibos tea on blood lipids and antioxidant system during exercise in rats. Twenty-eight male Sprague Dawley rats were used as the subject. They were divided into four groups as control (CON), exercise (EXE), Rooibos tea ingestion (RT), and Rooibos tea ingestion with exercise (RTE), respectively. They have exercised on the treadmill and exercised 5 day per week for 4 weeks. They were sacrificed by decapitation at 10 minute after 60 minute treadmill running (25m/min, 7°). This investigation demonstrated body weight and that blood TC, HDL-c, TG, glucose, and FFA were analyzed using enzymatic methods and LDL-c was calculated by reported previously. SOD and MDA were analyzed to prove antioxidant effect of Rooibos tea. Body weight in each group was not significantly different in groups. Stored-fat weight (mesentery, abdomen) in each group was not different in groups. However, epididymal fat was significantly higher in CON (p<.05). FFA was significantly lower in CON (p<.05). However, blood TC, TG, HDL-c, LDL-c, and glucose were not significantly different in groups. SOD activity was significantly higher in EXE and RTE (p<.05). MDA content was significantly lower in RTE (p<.05). In conclusion, Rooibos tea ingestion with exercise seemed to have beneficial effects for reducing oxidative stress via enhancing the SOD activities and reducing the MDA production.
