A PCR method was developed to detect and verify Sacbrood Virus (SBV), a virus affecting honeybee larvae.
The PCR assay was performed with SBV specific primer set(SBV3-824F/R), amplifying 824bp fragment from SBV genome that containing BamHI restriction site. This primer showed high specificity and sensitivity in SBV detection.
SBV amplicon was cloned and sequenced, it showed 94% and 99% homology nucleotide and amino acid sequence with SBV complete genome (GenBank, Accession no. AF092924, NP-049374), respectively.
In this study we report a specific SBV primer pair for detection and verification of SBV infection.
