The purpose of this treatise is to explain the features of the remains of Japanese imperial days in Busan, and to show Busan citizens' opinion about the remains.
In Busan, its modernization was performed by the effects of Japanese rule and its westernized modern culture. Specially the modern establishments, constructions and buildings in Busan was formed by Japanese tradition and style. They have been formed and effected Korean's daily life culture from Japanese imperial days to nowadays.
There are many buildings and houses as old fashioned form in the streets of Busan city nowadays. Some buildings are used as government and public offices as used to be, and many houses are used as residential place continually. There are many remains of the military equipments and establishments, esapecially cannon camp placed underground, at Yonghodong and Gadeok island in Busan.
In the reply to questionnaires, most Busan citizens' know about the remains of Japanese Empire. But astonishingly, the 36% of all implied young men and women don't know about the historical remains found here and there in city. And most Busan citizens' want to preserve the remains because they are valuable materials for Koreans to study Korean modern history.
The remains of Japanese imperial days are the part of Korean modern history and the part of the original form of Korean daily culture continued nowadays. Beyond ethnicism and nationalism, it is necessary to preserve them as materials of modern history. They will contribute to the find the original form of Korean's modernization and to research the real shapes of modern history of Korea.
