While Russian Modernism ended up in blossoming a gorgeous flower along with complicated and dynamic lives of ages for a short period of time, its power of influence has still transcended to writers who belong to a later time. During the period of Russian Modernism, the folk-customs interested people in the very situations of revolution. However, folk-customs fascinated the minds of poets with its natural appeals rather than with intentional objectives. Thus, folk-customs is thought to provide the first step for Russian Modernism to ripe various and affluent fruits.
This paper is about word', which symbolism tried to and futurism sew. Simply put, the fact shows its relations with folklore, and that is why from symbolism to futurism placed strong interest in folk-customs. There is no such a thing as folk genre that can provide abundant materials for authors imaginative power and experiment. In particular, it bears more significance for Modernist poets who felt a repugnance to realism of 19th century and wanted to throw it away: because it enables one to behold the most fundamental things as the outset of making everything anew. Also, folk-custom is a universe consisting of 'word' such as 'words of a god', containing everything in it.
It contains the principle of the universe, not to mention happiness, anger, love, and joy of human life. Poets of Russian Modernism have witnessed such power within folk-customs, and employed it as they intended. Even though folk-customs embedded in Russian Modernism might take a small part, the significance can not be overlooked. Therefore, this paper serves as a prelude for the research to pave a road to understand the relations between Russian Modernism and folk-poets.
Such analyses in detail can be followed: in broader sense, trends like symbolism, acmeism, futurism, and folkore: in narrower sense, research on folklore's effects on works of each poet. Not until would all of those analyses be accomplished that the conclusion of the specific relations between Russian Modernism and folk-poets cannot be drawn.
