This study aims to compare the educational theory of two scholars, John Amos Comenius(1592-1670) and Yulgok Lee(1536-1584) in terms of the education of their whole personality, explore their similarity and the difference, and apply themselves to the nurturing of all learners by the whole personality in the Christian schools.
They have a common opinion that the goal of the intellectual education should be centered towards the mature life of the learners. they wrote themselves the textbooks to be used for the contents of the lifelong education in order to bring up the learners into their the whole personality. they commonly invented the teaching methods such as the motivation to touch the internal world of the learners, the harmonious method of knowledge and behavior, the scientific and natural method based on the principles of nature, and the disciplined method for the encouragement of award and punishment.
There are two kinds of differences of the educational contents and the structures of knowledge; and the former shows us three books of Nature, the human reason, and the Bible, and the latter does the books of the family, school, and society. there are three kinds of differences in the teaching methods: Comenius adopted the scientific and natural method based on the natural principles; and Yulgok emphasized the importance of the practice and behavior according to the learning of the learners; The former was founded on the principle of the imitation.
