Jong-Sam Kim was a dual language generation poetafter the Korean War who was concerned with what language types could be used to write poems in Korean, unlike the difficult modernist poems that were created by some modernist poets in those days. He intended to pay attention to the problems of the language and aesthetics of poetry in the mode of cultural language, culture, and intelligence,as indicated by Hwa Lim in the 1930s. Specifically, long-Sam Kim was concerned with "Korean," "Cultural Language," and the "written language"as the language used worldwide in the new era after the Korean War.
This was a mode that was demonstrated by the generation born in the 1920s, actively appeared in work in the 1950s, and was confused with dual language writing. long-Sam Kim tried to pursue a new language form, which was differentiated from traditional custom, but presented symbolic scenes through words written in Chinese, unfamiliar words of foreign origin, and an epical writing style that intentionally disturbed the scansion of the elegant Joseon language. This style definedthe relationship between the world and the subject in a different mode from the previous tradition. That is, the mode sought to thoroughly hide and weaken the subject and present the world as extreme through the overall presentation of language signifiers and poetic scene presentation.
The appearance of unfamiliar poetic language and the presentation of cultural languages as civilized languages were part of this new mode that sought to expand poetic language in Korean poetry. The Korean poems in the 1950s movedtoward the aesthetic modernity of modem poetry through various words of foreign origin, the symbolic presentation of the pure senses, and language experiments, as the Korean poems were free from the constraints of pure Joseon language and local language.
