This paper explores the allative usages of the two Korean postpositions -ey and -(u)1o in relation to dynamic locomotive motion in spatial domain. With regard to allative sense, the semantic structures of -ey and -(u)lo are discussed to show that these grammatical particles have distinct conceptual imports, however schematic they are. Through a rating experiment, this paper also investigates semantic factors such as verb types, goal size, container, tense and aspect and their relationships for the choice of -ey and -(u)lo. The result shows that verb type plays a crucial role in determining the choice of the postpositions, It is finally argued that the allative usages serve as possible motivations for the semantic extension of -ey and -lo.
