This is a review of the nature and the criterium of preaching analysis as learning process. There are five elements in the nature of preaching analysis. Above all, preaching analysis is to praise the preaching(Lob). Preaching analysis is to ask the preaching(Fragen: Was uns anspricht; woher die Predigt kommt; wohin die Predigt fuhrt). Preaching analysis is to interpret the preaching(Interpretation). Preaching analysis is to understand the preaching(Verstehen). And preaching analysis is to create himself (Schopfung), There are seven criteria in preaching analysis. First of all, preaching is the interpretation of Bible. So, we should see into how much biblical that preaching is. It is very important to us who are in the Reformed tradition, represented as the theology of the Word of God. Secondly, preaching is the proclamation of kerygma. It has something to do with the revelation. Thirdly, preaching is the shaping of theology. Continually, we must check our preaching in the perspective of systematic theology, including christology, eschatology, etc. Fourthly, preaching must be adjacency to context. It has a thread of connection with church, congregation, history. Fifthly, preaching is the performance as liberating rites. We should be a tool of God through many kinds of action preaching. Sixthly, preaching is revealed through the wholistic personality of preacher. His preaching on the pulpit must continue into his life under the pulpit. Seventhly, preaching must be leaded by logical thinking (Pneumato-logische Denken) and theonomic reciprocity(Theonome Reziprozitat) by which the Holy Spirit works with human language and culture. We must understand spirit as life-force and therefore show the necessity of distinguishing the Holy Spirit’s activity in preaching from the various spirits of the age.
