This paper tries to expand the understanding of the subjective case of korean through analyzing the grammar intrinsic to the grammaticalized subjective case.
The following grammars can be found in the grammaticalized nominative case.
The verb which could be grammaticalized as a subjective case should be a intransitive verb adjacent to the subject. Transitive verbs can not be grammaticalized as a subjective case since they are not close to the subject in the syntactic structure. Transitive verbs would be grammaticalized not as a objective case, but as an auxiliary particles.
The subject in the preceding clause should be same as these in the following clause in the optative sentence, in which an intransitive verb could be grammaticalized as a subjective case.
When an intransitive verb in the preceding clause is omitted, the subject in the preceding clause should be in agreement with the predicate in the following clause.
If a conjugation of an intransitive verb in the preceding clause might become grammaticalized as a subjective case, the grammaticalized subjective case should carry out the specific distinctive functions.
The reason why only ‘-ga(가)’ among the grammaticalized subjective case could be used as a phonologic allomorph is that ‘-ga(가)’ substituted for the functions of ‘?’ as ‘-ga(가)’ is being used instead in the case of a phonologic situations of ‘?’
An intransitive verb which might be grammaticalized as a subjective case ought to be used as a meaning showing either a speaker limits an object (the subject) as a specific contents or a speaker's attitude toward a listener.
