The purpose of this study is to examine how the Language Viewpoint of Kim Ki-rim had been changed. While it placed the focus on letter before 1945, it did the focus on speech after 1945 in the relation with the theory of modern poetry.
In 1930's, he stressed on visual aspect in poetry. So he presented the rhetoric of metaphor and was interested in letter of the poetry. He thought that modern poetry belonged to not oral but letter culture. He regarded Chinese character as a type of letter and stressed on visual peculiarity of letter.
But after 1945, he focused on not literature language but everyday language. He stressed on not letter but speech, and emphasized on unification of the written and spoken language. He presented concrete method of Hangul movement, so he criticized the abstract property of Chinese character and the feudalistic idea of its culture.
