This paper is on the study of Guam Lee-Jung’s life and the several aspects of his poetic world. He lived in his native town, so called sacheon city. When he was young, he studied hard to obtain the authority of officer. Finally he became a cho-sun dynasty officer. When he entered into the government world, he was determined to serve his people and practice his promise. With the time going, he retired to his native town and lived in nature.
I looked into his chinese poems and could find three aspects of his poetic world. In a nutshell, it can be summarized as follows.
First of all, his poetic world shows the observation of reason through the survey of matters and the union of nature. He found out truth in the natural features of the season and figured his life to union of the nature.
Secondly, he was interested to his nation’s history and his people’s life. He was concerned about the preservation of historical spots and the realization of practicing the love for his people’s life.
Finally, he was greatly concerned about retiring to his native town and wanted to live in the nature. That was seemingly well expressed in his work.
I am looking forward to studying this more deeply in my future paper and also to other scholars' heavy researches into this matter.
