The purpose of this study was to investigate the aspects of language in games and to search for the more effective method that can put the competitive game on the educational direction. to achieve this purpose, the qualitative study method was used. the data collection methods were field notes and recording through non-participant observation and interview was used. the data were analyzed by the methods of case record analysis and inductive categorical analysis. The participants were recruited via the purposive sampling method from the 6th grade of D elementary school in Dae gu.
The results of this study are as follows.
First, students communicated their thoughts and feelings with peers using negative language instead of affirmative, neutral language.
Second, the 62.1% of the using language in games was negative and could be classified by retaliation, dissatisfaction, ridicule, disregard.
Third, the using of negative language made peers have negative recognitions to physical education and evoked offensive tempers and physical violences and fear to failure and helplessness.
So, teachers should endeavor in reducing negative language to enhance students' involvement in the physical activities through various games and give attention to low-skilled students not to be alienated.
