The Purpose in this study was to examine the relationships on health behavior, body image, self-efficacy and depression by regular exercise among elementary school students. A total of 525 boy students of elementary school, 12.3 ± 0.9 year old, involved in this study. All variables for this study were measured using a self-report questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed by SAS package, analyzed one-way ANOVA to the variables, and Post hoc applied with Student Newman Keul test. Results are as fellow.
Health behaviors, body image, and self-efficacy with regular exercise group are significantly more positive than those of none-exercise group(P<.001), while the depression with regular exercise group is significantly less than that of none-exercise group(P<.02). In the exercise students there are significantly negative correlations between health behavior and body image, or self-efficacy, and also self-efficacy and depression, respectively.
But a positive correlation between body image and self-efficacy was appeared significantly. However, In the non-exercise students a negative correlations between health behavior and body image, or self-efficacy, and between self-efficacy and depression were showed significantly. But there was significantly positive correlation between body image and self-efficacy.
In conclusion, authors think that an elementary school students recommend regular exercise in oder to positively accomplish their body image, self-efficacy, and depression management.
