The historical Berlin Declaration and successful south-north summit meeting can be regarded as a set of historical event which accelerates the activation of interchange and cooperation in the dull relationship between south and north korea. In this paper we will prospect the role of remarkable soprt exchanges and the problems with which our country is confronted, and then expects to play an important part in a south-north reconciliation and collaboration and permanent peace settlement.
The conclusion was as follows :
First, To hold 2002 FIFA World Cup jointly and compose a unitary team is a national task which has to accomplish necessarily. The prospect is very bright to form a unitary team in Asian Cup in October and to participate through AFC supports and affirmative responses of North Korea Second, Through a regular unification football, the all kinds of exchange matches between south and north Korea will have to be open. In a good football match of the four far East Nations and World Youth Championship it is positively expected to compose a unitary team and to participate.
Third, Because of limited time it will be desirable to put together to the games rather than form a unitary team and participate in 2000Sydney Olympic Games.
Fourth, In 2001 Osaka World Table Tennis Championship it seems to be possible to compose a unitary team and participate.
Fifth, The regular unification basketball will enable the exchange matches of korean wrestling, volleyball, table tennis and badminton to be held, and the authorities concerned should find out a concrete and visual way.
Sixth, Beyond elite sport exchanges the various exchanges of games and the methods of cooperation are necessary and these will probably make people-to-people exchanges active.
