The Sungkyunkwan University version of 〈Kimsanseojeon(김상서전)〉, which was discussed in this paper for the first time in history, is a different version of 〈Kimheekyungjeon〉, a well-known novel of female hero. Considering studies on 〈Kimheekyungjeon〉 have not been fully made yet, this paper focused on proving the value of the Sungkyunkwan University version of 〈Kimheekyungjeon〉 as a different version. Findings from this study are as follows:
First, the Sungkyunkwan University version of 〈Kimheekyungjeon〉 has a primary implication in that it incorporated many different versions of 〈Kimheekyungjeon〉, which had been handed down till then and created a new original copy.
Second, the version is considered important as well in the sense that it served as a base version of written copy of 〈Kimheekyungjeon〉 and Female Heroes. Third, 〈Kimheekyungjeon〉 was handed down as a long-length novel at first, and shortened later. The Sungkyunkwan University version is also highly significant in that it is the earliest version clearly showing the process how 〈Kimheekyungjeon〉 was changed into a short story.
