Feminist SF, especially black feminist SF such as Octavia Bulter's Xenogenesis trilogy often describes women's struggles with the various oppressions of sexism, classism, and racism through the dialectical tension between present and future. Notably, most ecofeminists address the domination of nature in a context of the multiple social oppressions. The multiplicity of oppressions and salvations centering around the nature is the very thematic concern and a structural feature of black feminist SF writer Octavia Butler. Among many works Octavia Butler's Xenogenesis trilogy has much in common with Rosemary Ruether's ecofeminist theologies in that both reveal an organic view of how God or the universal mind functions in the world through creativity, interconnections, and love instead of objectivity, singularity and competition. Instead of regarding God as distant and separated from humanity, both ecofeminist writers stress the importance of non-human creations interconnected through orgarnelle or stardust and humans' own responsibility as mediators in the process of creation and salvation. Addressing humans' responsibility as the ongoing mediator between God and creation, both find ecofeminism as a way to bring the new ecological ethics of earthseed to the discourses on multiple oppressions, enabling us to be sympathetic and inclusive toward the non-human and environment as part of ourselves.
