Living in a global community and confronting people of diverse backgrounds, Christian educators often find themselves busy translating the gospel into the concepts or ideals relevant and meaningful to the peoples in their own culture and situations. Nevertheless, this effort, known as contextualization, has not received much attention in the field of Christian education as much as it has been in missiology and theology. For this reason, the writer has attempted an inductive study in this paper to justify contextualized Christian education by doing three things: first, to examine the characteristics of the global society that need to be concerned by the Christian educators, second, to take examples of contextualization from the Scriptures, and third, to study the educational functions of contextualization.
