The objectives of this study are to analyze the French regional policy since decentralization and to seek suggestions for this policy. France adopted various kinds of policy instruments in order to reduce territorial disparities. The analysis is conducted with regard to French regional policy as follows. This study first examined the decentralization reform and the evolution of regional policy, analyzed the instruments of French regional policy which were divided into decentralization, deconcentration, innovation & solidarity, and then compared the instruments of the regional policy between France and Korea. Based upon this analysis and comparison, the implications of the regional policy were suggested. According to the results, there exist many similarities concerning the instruments of the regional policy between France and Korea, but there also exist many differences. These include the application of policy instruments(decentralization, deconcentration, innovation, solidarity), and policy coordination and agencies etc.
