This paper suggests a comprehensive framework for analyzing various conservation methods for the historical and cultural resources in Kongju city. In detail, it, first, categorizes most historical and cultural heritages(i.e., tangible and intangible resources) in Kongju city according to the concept, scope, method of the conservation. Second, it investigates current and proposed conservation plans. Finally, it analyzes various conservation methods by the suggested framework. By analyzing historical and cultural heritages in Kongju, the characteristics of their distribution showed that there were many individual historical resources, but there showed no organic relationship among them by the linear and areal historial resources. From investigating current and proposed historical conservation plans, most conservations have concentrated on the preservation and protection methods of the designated historical resources and the utilization method of intangible historical resources, especially cultural festivals. There need a comprehensive approach to conserve various historical resources in order to enhance Kongju's historical, cultural image by considering types of conservation concepts and methods - preservation, protection, repair, restoration, renovation, reconstruction, conversion, replication, relocation, utilization.
