The purpose of this paper is to review the new version of the urban informal sector theories and seek its implications of research on large cities in Korea.
Traditional urban informal sector theories focuses on special aspects of urban economy in cities of Third World countries. But recent years have seen new phenomena that urban informal sector have increased considerably in metropolis of developed counties. Thus the need to new approach is provoked, and the new version of the urban informal sector theories that is somewhat different from traditional version has emerged.
In this paper composition is as follows: firstly, traditional urban informal sector theories is reviewed, secondly, new approach is reviewed, thirdly, implication of study on Korea large cities is examined, finally, this paper concludes with urban researcher to more explore the new phenomena on large cities in Korea.
