The purpose of this study is concerned with analyzing the relationship between the change of regional consciousness of community peoples and the location of industrial complex in Kwangyang area. The data are drawn from a questionary survey based on random sample of the community population of Kwanyang area. The survey was conducted in April 1992, and the respondents were 348 populations of research area.
In attempting to understand the nature of relationship between the change of regional consiousness of community peoples and the location of industrial complex, we consider the nature of opposites, the positive and negative effects on the change of regional community.
According to the location of industrial complex, we can see the result in the dissolution of life spaces and their progressive assimilation to economic space. Particularly, the Kwangyang area shows the growth of regional economy, personal and household income, increase of job - oppertunity, residential environments, and the transportation facilities. With the dissolution of life space, however, Kwangyang area have the negative effects ; the declines of regional consciousness among individuals, the increase of environmental pollution and social conflicts among community population.
The establishment of industrial complex in agrarian community have an effect on the progress of regional urbanization and industrialization, and population of research have a positive perception on the regional development with the location of leading firm and industrial complex, and the change of life space's quality images of possible futures. Conclusionly, to recover the life spaces, the efficient regional policy for individuals must be established and succeeded.
