The object of this research is that investigate the mutation of morphemes, semantic and words in symbolic words from 15th century to 19th century.
Most of the vocabulary is based on the Chinese character in korean language system but in the case of symbolic words, we can find the large amounts of native words to Korea. The numerous study of symbolic words of korean language have proceeded till now is centered in contemporary age. But this diachronic study of symbolic words from 15th century to 19th century have drop the anchor at three conclusive process.
First, this study explain the morphology by two way. The one way is the contraction and extension of syllables in aspect of words, the other is the omission and addition of phonologic words. All of two change of words are managed together in this paper.
Second, the semantic scope of isomorphic words had changed in contraction and extension near to 19th century, This case of words can be shown synchronic and diachronic type. In the exceptional case not inclued the above, we can call 'the move of the meaning'- this is the transform of the concep of its voice.
The semantic variation of symbolic words reaserched in types of contraction, extension and move of semantic scope.
Third, in mutation of words, it is analyzed in words that have used till comtempory age and that have gone out of use now.
Even though insufficience in number of symbolic words at that titre compare to present age, we can not be sure the undevelopment of symbolic words. For it is due to lack of the document. The trait of symbolic words in 15th century to 19th is appeared in contemporary words. For example, It is appeared the repetition in ‘구믈~구믈구믈’, the replacement of vowel in ‘??~싁싁, 촉촉~축축’ and the transmuting to other word class with a suffix.
Symbolic words is influenced by emotion rather than intelligence. Because of a close connection between the phonetics and semantics, we are apt to think that it's hard to transform the symbolic words, but because the emotional meaning can be change by personal factors and chronicle, we can conclude that symbolic words have a large range of the variation.
