Most of east asians don't yet have forgotten the invasion by Japan in the first half of 20th century. Meanwhile Japan government strained over again the truth in a history text for junior high school. This fact resulted in racial resistance of the neighboring countries against Japan. That is the motive to write this paper.
The object of this paper is to arrange how to describe neighboring peoples' memorial difference on japanese invasion in a history text of 5 countries and how they have been trying to overcome the scars of war and the discord of memory.
Japanese history texts have an attempt to describe the Sino-Japanese War(1894~1895), the Russo-Japanese War(1904~1905), the Pacific Asian War(1931~1945) and the expansion of the war as japan's correspondence according to changing the international situation. In an extension of this idea, it seems so clear for the intention to cover up the war of aggression through the content of structure and the style of description.
The texts of south Korea, north Korea, China, Taiwan don't concretely emphasize the act of japanese aggression but describe japanese invasion as a background of resistance history. On the contrary, the history text of 4 countries put an emphasis on describing independent action of its own, as it were, the resistance movement. So the image to the political history of modern east asia is different among history texts of 5 countries. This will be a obstacle in forming east asian network.
Reflection and criticism on the act of aggression of Japan started from two movements domestically. One is the peace movement, the other is the compensation for victims of atomic bomb used in the Pacific War. However each countries' education of peace and human rights are done not at the side of the universal value of human beings but limited to national interests. Above all, the history texts of 4 countries except Japan's never pay attention to the compensation and the present state for aggressive war of Japan. The history education toward pointing at the future for postwar coexistence of peace is lack of concreteness.
The political solution to dispel discord and difference from the memory among the 5 east asian nations around the aggressive war will have to start from the apology of the japanese king(昭和天皇) to admit the responsibility of the invasion. At the same time, it will have together to make scientific and history-educational attempt to be able to make narrow the difference of memory by publishing alternative texts or auxiliary textbooks commonly used in east asia.
