This thesis is written to study ecological meaning on novels by Hwang Soon-won.
<Living like a star> and <Human-grafting> are constructed on the idea that the small and frail life, like a baby or a mouse, should be treated worthily. They rejoice the hopeless and restore injured pure nature.
In the <The descendants of Cain> and the <The standing trees on a cliff>, the value of life is degraded absolutely. Hoon stab old Doseop with a dagger in the <The descendants of Cain>. And Dongho and Hyuntea kill others on slender reason and they killed himself in the <The descendants of Cain>. But the ending restore the value of life as the Soak's pregnancy. The new life means relief from vice and cycle of nature.
<The die of Gods> is a kind of ecological novel in point of dealing with ecological problem as the pollution of water, air and soil. Above all this is valuable novel because there is significance of 'cultivating ecological consciousness' and 'the religious sensibility'.
There is not close but open humanism in the novels by Hwang Soon-won. And then they are excellent green literature in point that his novels respect life.
