It is said that the purpose of the spirituality education in a Christian university is to help students to know the Gospel, mature the students who were saved to the quality of Jesus Christ so that they can serve others and build the body of Christ. That man is a man equipped with intelligence, good personality, and spirituality, futhermore, well-balanced, harmonized, and integrated wholly. It is the purpose of true spirituality education and Christian education as well.
However, the spirituality education in universities is not only lack of spirituality but also in chaos. After the development of enlightenment movement and humanism in eighteen centuries, the spirituality education that could have built wholly persons has been precluded from university education. Moreover, the understandings to spirituality are different, and the spirituality education becomes secularized.
At this point, even if the spirituality education is provided in Christian universities, it focuses on teaching just Christian Introduction so that the true understanding and education as to spirituality is not applied to Christian University's education. In this context, this treaty talks about the way in which how we can restore spirituality education and integrate spirituality into university education through the overall understanding as to Christian spirituality.
I suggested three alternatives to integrate Christian spirituality into university educations. First, the education is to be one helping to restore the image of God. It is as to salvation and the experience of born-again. Second, it should be one helping people reconcile broken relationships and fellowships. I suggested to reconcile not only the vertical relations between men and God, but also the horizontal relations between neighbors. Third, the reconciliation of relations pursues the ultimate goal that is the restoration of personality. I suggested to perform an education that can help students restore the whole personality through the restoration of spirit which has been disregarded.
