As Korean's residential territory expanded, the scope of Korean literature is also expected to get larger. For that result, Korean literature is not restrained to ones written in Korean Peninsula, but rather it contains all the literatures written in Korean language. Now, Korean literature includes all the literatures of immigrants who moved to other countries. This is why attention on immigrants-literature in South America, Argentina, was requested.
Korean immigrants in Argentina have been publishing literary magazine annually and showing their work vigorously in the name of "Escritores coreanos en Argentina(재아문인협회)". Among those novels, couple of them deserve special attentions because they contained both common characteristics of immigrant-novel and unique characteristics of South America immigrant-novel simultaneously.
The first characteristic of those novels is exaggerated memories of life in Korea. Their scenery or Korea remained unchanged since they left the country, and they lack concreteness of reality, but they show compelling longing for their mother country's sentiment.
Also those novels describe how they got to choose migration. Most of them recalled difficult moments of living in Korea, and immigration was considered as a door to escape. Furthermore, contrary to their expectation in the beginning of immigration, Argentina was not a problem-free country. There, Immigrants had to suffer due to new customs and legal problems.
For that reason, those South-American immigrants hope to reimmigrate into the United States of America or to hope to return back to Korea. There is no specific explanation about life in United States, but it is expected to be better than ones in Argentina. Therefore, they make excessive effort to re-immigrate into United States. Moreover it is not easy to return back to Korea. It is their mere hope expressed emotionally when they confront arduous immigrant life.
Argentinean Korean novels show both the whole characteristics of South-American immigrants-novel and unique characteristics of all of immigrants-novel. Those particular immigrant units of literature will eventually contribute to the expansion of Korean literature.
