The study which is on a style criticism took Hong ManJong's Sihwajip, 『Sohwasipyeong』 and 『Sihwachongrim』 compiled by him as texts. The study checked over an aesthetic characteristics of a work related to a critical remark 'Han' and considered writer's mentality in it based on psychoanalysis.
A characteristics of a critical remark 'Han' was discussed about two aspects such as absence of poetic tension and self-restraint on emotional expression. Absence of poetic tension is calmness that don't be pressed for time and quite atmosphere can make. The calmness makes a poet relax in emotion. And a poet takes an attitude as if he/she steps back from the complicated world in a poem related to a critical remark ‘Han’. Thus it shows contemplating nature in the side of objective or a feature of reconciled with nature. Namely, a poet concentrates on natural features of the season in self-restraint of emotional significant. If the emotion of a poet was vividly expressed on a poem, it means operation of the mind of a poet is very active. Therefore, it is possible to go away from a stage of true 'Han'.
A poet's mentality was reviewed in a consideration on writer's mentality related to a critical remark on the letter 'Han' based on psychoanalysis. As a result, it can be found a poet's regression which pursues psychological stability in these works. And a poet who can not come true his/her ideal in realities recites a poem with substitution called nature. And it shows transference of an object pursuing mental satisfaction of a poet.
