The purpose of this paper is to analyze linguistic features of mask dance dramas in Yeongnam area from a sociolinguistic point of view. We analyzed 'Tongyeong Ogwangdae, Goseong Ogwangdae, Gasan Ogwangdae; Suyeong Yaryu, Dongnae Yaryu; Hahoi Byeolsin-gut-tallori' with variables of social classes and gender. The results of analyzing the use of address forms, honorifics, vulgar languages, and dialectal variants are follows. First, we found out that the usage difference of address forms and honorifics showed clearly with speakers' classes. Upper classes speakers used non-respect forms, but lower classes speakers used respect forms non-reciprocally. Second, lower classes speakers showed a strategic usage revealing hostile attitude to upper classes speakers, or overthrowing the realistic social position in language by positive mediation of level of respect. Third, the usage between men and women was un-reciprocal. Men used forms of 'ha-ge' speech level as superiors, but women used forms of 'ha-o' or 'ha-si-psio' speech level as subordinates. We interpreted that the un-reciprocal usages of honorifics between the upper classes and the lower classes or men and women are the reflection of our social structure, which unequal relation exist among the social classes and between men and women from Joseon dynasty in Korea. Fourth, usages of vulgar languages, taboo languages, and dialectal variants didn't show a difference with classes and gender. All characters of mask dance dramas used very much vulgar languages, taboo languages, and dialectal variants. We appreciated that the usage were from the fact that mask dance dramas analyzed in this papers were generated in Gyengsang area by lower classes actors, and the major receptors or consumers of them are lower classes peoples in Gyengsang area too.
