In the English syntactic analysis, the complexity of the sentence Structure increases in proportion to the length of the sentence. The long sentence analysis is a difficult task because of the high spacial and time complexity of the analysis. In this paper, sentence segmentation is suggested for accurate and efficient analysis of the long sentences. For this purpose, the long sentence types are collected and the decomposition points are defined. The long sentences are segmented into several shorter ones by the decomposition points which are found before the syntactic analysis. And the analysis is performed on each segments so that the complexity of the analysis may be reduced. Therefore, more accurate and efficient analysis becomes possible. The long sentence types and decomposition points are listed and the long sentence type recognition algorithm is described in this paper. The sentence segmentation by the decomposition points is also described. Through the experiments of the analysis using sentence segmentation, the practicality and the efficiency of this analysis method will be shown.
