Currently, we live in a highly automatized society, This automation has been originated from the results of computer mechanization and information oriented society.
In this paper, the 'trade automation' is referred and also, its effects on the international competitiveness of trade business are analysed and researched. In short, 'trade automation' means 'paperless trade.' The traditional trade procedures have been treated with such a large amount of related documents and they have been transmitted by man powers or other transportation facilities.
However, this procedure has recently been substituted for EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) system for the last 10 years.
EDI is one of the revolutional management method of current business society. Trade Automation conducts all the trade process by way of electronic data interchange instead of papers between business traders.
The effect of this trade automation has brought us tremendous conveniences an profits such as savings of time, labors and costs, which resulted higher net income and promotion of export to the business firms.
In the following sentences, the summary of effects of international competitiveness by means of trade automation (EDI) is referred.
1. The most effective result of EDI is in savings of time and costs by a large margin. The effect is more prominent in reducing office desk works, labors, stocks and physical distribution.
2. EDI System conducts intensively the availability of various correct informations within a real time and it results business firms to cover the requirements of customers more efficiently and faster than the traditional system.
3. The trade automation promotes trade firms to upgrade their credits and cooperation with their counterpart businesses. By holding and utilizing transaction data in common, business firms can increase close relations with their partners, and decrease disputes from the mistaken data together with reducement of them.
4. The more important effect than the cost reduction will be found in the improvement of internal business procedures. During the preparing process of analysing business administration, unnecessary and overlapping procedures will be in sure removed and improved.
5. By introducing trade automation system, trade firms are able to cover sharply against the changes of market environment due to the shortening of product life cycle in accordance with the various requirements of foreign consumers. Together with this the development or inducement of new products might be promoted quickly than ever. In conclusion, this paper aims at analysing and emphasizing the effects of trade automation, and promoting trade firms to perform EDI system as soon as possible.
