Han Moo-sook's sacred view of history represented in History Goes which is her typical novel is related with the heroic view of history that history is led by men of rarity and self-sacrifice. The novel marks an era in the history of Korean novel and especially novel by woman writer in that it dealt with the period between the last years of Chosun dynasty and the Restoration of independence under the sacred and heroic view of history in chaos after the Restoration.
Han Moo-sook tends to have doctors appear as major or minor characters in her short- stories such as Doctor Chung, Emotional Abyss, All Between Us, Conscience, Drill.
Whereas History Goes is focused on history, Encounter is about Korean religion and ideology. She keeps her heroic and sacred view of history of the former in the latter published 36 years after the former. For example, Chung Yak-yong and Chung Ha-sang in Encounter are descended from heroic characters of History Goes such as Lee Kyu-jik and Cho Suk-gu.
