In this dissertation I have intended to examine children's literature and discourse about children in 『Manseon daily newspaper 』. The purpose of this dissertation is to study the characteristics of children's literature in the period of Japanese domination by force and to explore children's was recorded in『Manseon daily newspaper 』『Manseon daily newspaper』was a daily newspaper which was published in Manchuria during 1936-1945.
Since there was no thesis about children's literature on 『Manseon daily newspaper』, this study has explored the juvenile literature and the discourse of children written in 『Manseon daily newspaper』 .
The discourse about children in children's page of 『Manseon daily newspaper』 emphasized the sanitary and the health of children. Many articles related to war showed that 『Manseon daily newspaper』 spoke for Japanese imperialism. Japanese imperialism regarded children of Choseon in Manchuria as nationals.
Many pages for children of 『Manseon daily newspaper』 were recorded many fairy tales, children's verse, children's song, children's drama and so forth. This dissertation has classified into three items. The first type of the works was reflected in schooldays and poverty, for example 「 A Blue Bird」, 「A Skin bag」, 「Search for my father」. The second type of the works was expressed the pain of emigration and disperse, for instance 「The Sea」, 「The Ground」,「The Spring of Dooman river」, 「A Boat」,「A Spring」, 「A Magpie」,「First Fall」,「We are farmers」, 「A Letter」. The third type of the works of children's literature propagandized Japanese imperialism along the line of national policy. For example 「A Vacation」, 「Cheoli and Sports」, 「A Boy who plays the trumpet」, 「A Spring rain」.
Therefore in this paper, I can conclude that the children in Manchuria were under the Japanese imperialism and had possibility to escape from colonial time. But I can't find the foundation of resistance against Japanese imperialism in the field of children's literature at Manchuria.
