Buddhistic view of the world and Buddhistic consciousness have been presented from the first in the poems of Seo Jung-Ju. His evident Buddhistic recognition has been appeared especially in his 4th anthology 「Sin-La-Cho」 and the 5th anthology, 「Dong-Chun. This interpretation, however, is only the conclusion of the critics who set their minds on the view of eternal life and perpetuality in Sin-La dynasty.
Buddhistic recognition has been deepen from the 3rd anthology, 「Collected Poems of Sea Jung-Ju」. Buddhistic view of the world and Buddhistic consciousness in many peoms in 「Collected Poems of Seo Jung-Ju」 are presented in specific structures, bases of ideas and various images in such poems as 「Chunhyang Youmoo」, 「Crane」, 「In the Shower of Snow」. Buddhistic ideas in the poems after 「Sin-La-Cho」 which are made by his keen religious desire are distinguished from those of previous poems.
Seo Jung-Ju was attracted by the view of eternal life and perpetuality of Sin-La dynasty. His view of perpetuality indicates not only his view of history which goes through past, present and future also a view of the world which is beyond this world and coming world. His yearning for the eternity is culminated in the themes of 「 Dong-ChunJ」 After 「Dong-chun」, however, his Buddhistic recognition has become secularized and made dull in prosaic, socialized and routined expressions.
