Since modern costume design research has been carried out precisely in various standpoints and the expressions of designers are also becoming diverse, the moderns' expressive desire of modern designese for beauty and the advancement of recognition in finding their own personality become endless.
Since the costume reftects human lives, it 'vIIi1l be changed differently by the fashion trend and situation of the ages. As a symbol of the ages, the characteristics of costume 'vIIi1l be similar, if the political, economic, social, and cultural environment of the ages are analogous to others. Moreover, it 'vIIi1l be combined 'vIIith recollection of history and tradition and expectation of the future, and shown in creative and complex style.
From ancient to present, picture and costume is the same as reflector of the ages, so we can say the picture and
costume are the molding of spiritual culture and recognition of beauty expression of human being in the specific ages.
Therefore, under such theoretical background, this study had researched the textile design and costume design at the base of examining molding spirit and beauty consciousness of chinese pictures which well represen the tradition of oriental
picture.
The conclusion was as follows.
Rrst, the new style of textile design was explored by applying the colors. molding and design of painting of ftower and
birds which one of fradifomal type chinese picture. And a few color variation was also shown by computer.
Second, in the study of costume design, the new design which 'vIIi1l be adopted to costume was presented by utilizing painting of ftower. Furthermore. it was introduced to the modern costume 'vIIithout losing the traditional sense of chinese costume.
Third, employing the painting of grase and warm, on the surface of the costume, part of images of grass and worm were
made by handcrafted method. And the flower and leaf decorated 'vIIith beading and cubics.
Fourth, in using fabrics, the lustrous fabrics were used to show the peculiarity of chinese tradition costume, and the
see-through vertical silk was utilized to in order to emphasize the expression of oolors.
As this study laid emphasis on the expression symbolic images of chinese costume. which differed from existing
researches, the design was expressed in the ornamental way instead of realistic way.
