Traditional clothes reflects their nation's cultures and ideas. Custom clothes of Chosun Dynasty, especially custom ceremony clothes have been showed confucianism, buddhism, taoism, practicalism and local shamanism by their colours and patterns. Reflecting orientalism, 5 colours, white, black, blue, red and yellow, of custom clothes are based on the principle of Yin-Tang/five element theory explaining that the universe is governed by the power of 5 elements, metal, wood, water, fire and earth.
Prints or patterns of custom clothes have presented the desire of human being and religions and these have been characterized or formed by real or imaginary patterns which show either the harmony of nature or incantation.
Custom clothes has been distinguished by the purpose of ceremony such as coming of age, marriage, funeral and ancestral worship reflecting confucianism life style and humanity. Thus, human's etiquette and desire could be expressed through colours, patterns and types.
