Our own century may be called to a great historical turning point not only in the globe World and in the Far East Asia, but also specially .in the Korean Peninsular where the nation is searching for a new national identity. In order to rebuild this identity, We need to connect various information, experience and insight in other fields. we must make a bright society and it's an energy that develops the nation and history. Even though we know these facts, we lost our individuality, swimming in the pool of chaos. Now is the time to explore what individuality is, and we have to think over how to remodel individuality which is appropriate for the present and future. There are many ways to pull out one nation's individuality and define it. One of the possible ways is searching in our national identity. Also, our
identity could be found in the Founding Father Myth(建國神話). Founding Father Myth shows us not only the birth of a nation but also telling the national building myth. And it also expresses the nation's cosmic, historical, humanistic vision. Therefore I focus on Chosen(or Dangun) and Goguryo's Founding Father Myth. Founding Father Myth of two countries gives us a instructive lesson and would help to solve the new problems. Expecially, the situation they had
experience and the historical responsibility they faced are similar to ours. Identity in which "Dangun Myth" expressed is getting into 4 ways. At first, "Dangun" is an existence of birth by between the combination of heaven's son and the Great God of the Earth. Second, the country they established is in the middle of the space. Third, The most important being
of history i" human, not god. It'" called "Hongikinkan"(弘益人間). Fourth, all everything within the universe is in course of change and movement, and these mobilities and trends were designed for the harmony and co-existence.
Goguryo's Founding Father Myth is "Chiumong My1h". "Chiumong had a consciousness as Chosen's successor, and hold the idea of Dangun. Generally speaking, Identity in which Chiuming myth expressed gets into 3 ways. First, Chiuming is the existence of by combination of between the Heaven's son and the Water God. Second, the country they had established
was in the middle of the space. Third, they have metaphysical and dialectical trends which mean that all affairs will be changed and moved. Concretely, All people in Goguryo's felt their own identity and absorbed the cultures of other countries into their culture so that they could be able to make their unique culture. And it is used to found the ideal community of Goguryo as a cultural-oriented nation.
