I analyze the vocabularies in Gwangju 5·18 democratic struggle printed matters, in 1980. First, I classified the corpus into two parts according to the period and the groups. And I divided each part into three parts. In the period corpus, first part is before 5·18 period corpus, second part is during 5·18 period corpus, at last part is after 5·18 period. In the group corpus, first part is the corpus from the struggle participant groups, which are mainly student groups and citizen groups. Second part is the corpus from social groups, which are mainly political groups and christianity groups. And the last part is the corpus from government groups, which are mainly government groups and army groups. I analyze each corpus so as to seek frequencies of each vocabulary and ranking by the frequencies.
I find some characteristics in relation to the three periods. Before 5·18 period, citizens needed something changed in politic situations. During 5·18 period, citizens realized that the only way to gain democracy is struggle against to the government. After 5·18 period, citizens required to close examination about 5·18.And I also find some characteristics in relation to the struggle by analyze the corpus from three type groups, the struggle participant groups, the social groups, and the government groups. First group basically cognized the struggle as a fight against the Yushin and the dictatorship for gaining democracy. Second group was interested in economy situation and exchange the political power at that period.
The last group defined the struggle as a riot by some rioters, which was occur redin restricted region, Gwangju.
