In this article, literatures on employment interviews and job-competency are reviewed, and a case of structured competency-based employment interview system(SCBEIS) is newly developed and discussed. The article begins with a discussion on the importance of selecting "competent" human resources. Then, in the former part, the core concept of selection, interview, and competency is examined and linked with one another. In the latter part, a development process of SCBEIS is introduced and discussed in detail along with an actual example. SCBIS is developed using competency modeling followed by job analysis, selection of interview questions, and development of evaluation scales. SCBIS has the same advantages of structured interview and competency model, which identifies core aspects of a job. The articles concludes with the benefits and challenges of competency-based methods in human resources management and limitations and future research tasks.
